South
Cerney Wins Two Awards
Villages
across the Cotswolds have been competing in this year's Calor
Village of the Year Competition for Gloucestershire, and South
Cerney has picked up two of the awards.
The
'Safer Villages' category was won by South Cerney. South Cerney
also won for 'The Environment', delighting the local council.
As
southcerney.com reported earlier his year, vandals trashed the
village war memorial earlier, but this has now been restored.
Councillor Michael Stuart is reported to have said, "We are
particularly delighted with winning 'Safer Villages' as we have
pursued our vandals through the courts and are now getting money
out of them"
He
went on to say "We are all extremely pleased with winning
the two awards we did. To get something where people can see the
community is working together is a great thing - it's a marvellous
competition to work on."
